Shakira Talks About Getting Stronger and ‘Feeling Complete’ After Breakup with Gerard Piqué

Shakira is talking about how she got stronger after her breakup with Gerard Piqué, which happened a few months ago.

Wednesday, the Colombian singer sat down for an interview with Enrique Acevedo of Canal Estrellas. The interview was in Spanish, and the singer talked about how she learned to feel complete on her own.

“I’m sorry to say this, but I’ve always been very emotionally dependent on men. I was crazy about love, “Shakira, who is 46 years old, told the host that she used to think that a woman needed a man to feel whole.

She said, “One way or another, I’ve been able to see it from a different point of view, and I think I’ll be fine on my own.” “When a woman goes through hard times, she comes out of them stronger. When you come out stronger, it means you’ve learned to accept your weaknesses and know where you’re weak.”

Now, Shakira says she’s “on the way up” and has “managed to feel that I am enough,” which is something she “never thought would happen.”

“I feel whole because I know I can depend on myself and because I have two kids who depend on me,” she said of her 8-year-old son Sasha and 10-year-old son Milan, whom she shares with her 36-year-old husband Piqué.

“I need to be as strong as a lion. For that strength to be real and not just a show, it must have come from a lot of pain. Accepting the pain and putting up with the frustration because life doesn’t always go the way we want it to.”

“There are dreams that break, and we have to pick up the pieces and put them back together ourselves,” the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer said.

Shakira and the soccer player said in June that they were breaking up. This was more than 11 years after they first said they were dating.

In a joint statement, the couple said, “We’re sorry to say that we’re breaking up.” “We need privacy right now so that our kids can be safe, which is our top priority. Thank you ahead of time for being respectful and understanding.”

Since then, Piqué and his girlfriend Clara Chia Mart, who is 23 years old, made their Instagram account public in January. In the meantime, Shakira put out three songs that seem to be about the breakup.

The most recent is “TQG,” a song she made with fellow Colombian star Karol G. In it, they talk about watching a former partner move on and how the relationship made them stronger.

“Seeing you with the new one hurt me, but I’m fine by myself,” Shakira sang on the song with Spanish lyrics that were translated into English. “What we did, I forgot, and that’s what made you mad. That even life made me better, though, made me forget. You’re not welcome here anymore. I saw that your girlfriend threw at me. It doesn’t make me mad, it makes me laugh.”

In January, she put out a track called “BZRP Music Session #53” with Argentine producer Bizarrap. During her interview with Acevedo, she said that when she worked on the song, she “went into the studio one way and came out another.”

She sang, “I wish you luck with the person you’re putting in my place. I don’t even know what happened to you.” “I’m worth twice as much as a 22-year-old. You gave up a Ferrari for a Twingo. You gave up a Rolex for a Casio. You’re going too fast. You spend a lot of time at the gym, but your brain also needs some work.”

Shakira says, “I’m too good for you, and that’s why you’re with someone just like you,” over and over again in the song’s chorus.
