Police say fights broke out in the working-class Salguero neighbourhood of the city of So Goncalo, northeast of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil’s second-largest city.

Police say that all of the people killed in the violent fight were suspected criminals. Leonardo Costa Araujo, who was thought to be the leader of a drug cartel in the northern state of Pará, was one of the people killed in violent clashes in the city.
Costa is to blame for the death of police officers
Leonardo Costa Araujo was involved in the deaths of several police officers in Pará in recent years, and police thought he was hiding in the area.
