James Cameron just did the unthinkable and did something huge that no other director has ever done. His movie “Avatar,” which came out in 2009, was the first to make more than $2 billion at the box office. When “Titanic” was re-released, it made more than that amount. No one thought Cameron would be able to do the same with “Avatar: The Way of Water,” but the movie has done better than anyone could have imagined. In its sixth week of release, it became the first movie to make $2 billion.
By selling more than $2 billion worth of tickets around the world, Cameron now has three of the six highest-grossing movies of all time under his belt. Also, he is the only director whose three movies have made more than $2 billion around the world.

According to Deadline, “The Way of Water” has made more than $598 million in North America, and in its sixth week, it made more than $20 million. With that total, it is the 13th highest-grossing movie ever in the United States. On the other hand, the movie has now made more than $1.426 billion from international markets, passing both “Avengers: Infinity War” ($1.373 billion) and “Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens” ($1.134 billion) internationally.
China’s $229.7 million in overseas earnings keep it at the top of the list, followed by France ($129.8 million), Germany ($117 million), Korea ($96.9 million), and the UK ($81.9 million). In the meantime, the movie has made $57.9 million in India, making it the most successful Hollywood movie of all time there.
Cameron’s “Avatar” is the highest-grossing movie of all time, making $2.92 billion. “Titanic,” which made $2.19 billion, is the third-highest-grossing movie of all time.
The numbers also show that the movie is now making money, and Cameron is now making the other three movies in the series.
The story of “Avatar: The Way of Water” takes place 10 years after the events of the first movie. It is about the Sully family and the problems they face. The family will do anything to keep each other safe, and they fight to protect the rest of the tribe from the humans’ anger.
